As you all probably have gathered by now, Erbas went walkabout off her mooring in the storm yesterday morning. Due to a total comms failure (mobile phone, email, landline, the lot all ****ed up), the first I heard that there might be a problem was a PM from one Tomahawk of this parish to let me know that a blue hulled boat had gone ashore

That was the first forum awesomeness

Then Nathan offered to walk round from the marina to the swinging moorings, in the dark, to check on Erbas. Worryingly, he found her missing from her buoy and there was no sign of her anywhere. In an act of bravery above and beyond the call of duty, he then entered that den of iniquity known as the Ferry Boat and next thing we know is the landlord is on the case too. He makes some calls and gets hold of one of the marina staff who confirms that Erbas had gone walkabout but had been recovered intact and put on a different mooring. Phew!

Meanwhile, Jim (FullCircle) has offered to set off upriver with a big flashlight to search for Erbas, an offer I could thankfully turn down whilst gratefully accepting his offer to check on her in the morning. Also meanwhile, offers of help and messages of support and commiseration were pouring in by every means from all over including from people with worries and bad news of their own (thanks ChattingLil!).

In a final twist of the comms failure mode, Adam from the marina left a post on the Erbas blog at 22:10 with the good news that as far as he'd been able to ascertain when they pulled her off the mud no harm had come to her but I didn't get the notification of the post until nearly three in the morning by which time it was too late to ring him.

Jane and I are grateful beyond words and deeply touched by the fantastic response to what has hopefully turned out to be a non-event!

Al things being equal we'll be down this coming weekend and my wallet is braced for a nasty shock of a bar bill!

Cheers
Bru
