Interestingly, the current Sealine (German outfit) have Bill Dixon on-board as the designer/architect.
S29 / SC29 had a hull designed by Ocke Mannerfelt, which seems to work well (going forwards ... apparently reversing can be a little tricky).
SC35 hull is also from Ocke Mannerfelt.

And while we're on the subject of weak hulls ... does anyone remember what happened to admillington's Targa 40 on the way back from the CI's?
Peters were very good and replaced the boat, if I remember rightly.
Fortunately not an endemic problem, but even the up-market builders have off days.

I've never heard about that , what happened to his boat?

I'll add, on of the faults now apppeamg on the sealine SC35 in told is the leaking windows causing damp into the hull sides, I spoke to a surveyor a while back testing a hull for it to give very low moisture reading on the hull bottom then the readings went off the scale the further up the hull side he placed his meter, turns out the portholes leak allowing water down between the hull outer side and the inner liner soaking up into the matting quite nicely.
Certainly one to watch.

I've had an S42 for 8 years - I've never experienced chine riding in it.

Saw our local marina fixing an SC35 with this problem. Turned into a major job as it had warped the side if the boat!

If I remember correctly, the hull in the area beneath the mid cabin mini-settee started to break up (mid channel!).

We were chatting to a guy the other week who has removed his windows and resealed them properly. Said it wasn't a big job and he was glad he had done it as the original sealing of the windows wasn't great!
 
Lost the art of building a decent boat ?

When you remove most of the internal structures to improve interior volume the entire thing will flex.There was a reason that all those old boats were full of space stealing bulkheads and stuff.
.....Then make the hull and the top sides as thin and as light weight as possible. !
Leaky windows will be the least of the long term worries. ?
Not so bad on the smaller craft but not good news on big stuff and with suggestions that windows are cracking on some very prestigious craft indeed.
Seem to remember a Pearl had a problem recently.
