It links in with an already planned trip and I fancy a one week charter

I’m assuming the peak season is finished and it won’t be too crowded….anyone on here got any specific local knowledge on that, and also whether the Meltimi has blown itself out by then?

I did a couple of weeks mid September in the Saronic a few years ago and there was no meltimi, light/no winds in the morning building to 3/4/5 in the afternoon. We had one day of F6.
Nearly all of the harbours seemed quite sleepy and only Spetses was super busy although we didn't try Hydra. That was 12 years ago so maybe busier now.

I'm surprised at your starting at Piraeus, especially for only a week. Not better from say Poros - nearer the places you might want to visit?

We did a fortnight from Poros last June, with all the Covid-19 complications, as a nominal flotilla that consisted of us and a lead boat! And we got into Hydra without difficulty for the first time in decades... However our ambition was really to get to Monemvasia for the first time since 1987.

we are on a tall ship cruise that returns to Pireaus on a Saturday lunchtime and I was hoping to hop off that onto a charter boat rather than head off on a ferry to Poros

i have now found a charter co in Poros as well so i will investigate that option …but it makes the logistics a bit more complicated !!

Lovely part of Greece which I’ve sailed a couple of times. If you are in Pireas I can recommend the Aegean Sailing School (they also do charters). They are based on Aegina which is a short ferry hop (30-45 min) from the port in Pireas. No connection just had good previous experiences.

I think Aegina sailing school has been taken over by a Dutch company, Portofina it's appears to have crews of 20 -25 year old skippers with tickets, but little practical skills from my observations last season.
