I'm considering destinations for my annual cruise in summer 2022 and wonder if anybody visited Ireland during 2021?

Either Azores and back, or Mull and Knoydart to claim some free beer. Possibly leaving the boat ashore in a friendly marina over winter.

We sailed down the Irish Sea earlier this year, encountered no problems at all in Ireland.
Ballycastle- Bangor- Belfast- Ardglass- Dunlaghaire- Arklow- Kilmore Quay.

We've previously visited Glenarm, Rathlin, and a bunch of places on the NW corner.

I'm pretty certain we've missed out most of the best bits but some of the places we've seen we're definitely worth about visit.

As for myself for 2022, we missed our chance to get to the Caribbean so we might poke our bows in to the Med...

We called into Dun Laoghaire in August on our migration up and down the Irish Sea - no problems at all. We just had to fill out the Irish contact tracing form referencing our NHS covid jab QR code, same as if flying. I see no reason it will be any harder next year.

I hope to sail round the top and visit orkney then Ireland, i have a trip to fly over Feb and as part of that will scope out some marinas. Paperwork for the first trip is sorted so this will also be checked out as part of the trip

Orkney is good. Make sure you get to the northern islands though.

If you are coming over to Ireland I would recommend cruising between Cork Harbour and The Shannon Estuary. Fantastic cruising grounds with lots of small secluded anchorages. From Kinsale around to Bantry Bay are the most popular areas but there is great cruising further up along the Kerry Coast.
www.eoceanic.com is a great resource if you look at Havens

Pierohell is what the crew remembers, as the gale howled into the marina. I called a colleague who has a house on Papa Westray and was planning to retire to it. Are you sure, I said? But worth the trip even if you are not hardy enough to live there.

Thanks @Dino I have heard great things about the area from a pal who went over for a few weeks pre-covid.

I visited as a student some 20 years ago and had a fantastic time in the Kerry area.

You sailed into the EU. How did you get on logging in & then out again, when you left? Was there any passport stamping etc required, or did it not count against your 90 days. What would concern me would be, having gone through a covid check you might be listed as still in the EU & your 90 days exceeded. This could cause problems later on with a visit to somewhere in the EU next year

It's possibly a big if, but IF we don't get a nasty new variation of Covid, I rather think governments will have recognised the futility of trying to keep out something that's as contagious as a cold and, for most people, little worse, and will remove restrictions, compulsory tests and all the rest.

Whilst Omnicrom has been headlinning the news, there is still the Delta variant etc. & that, for some, has been somewhat more than just a "cold"-- do you not think? Something has been behind hospital admissions & deaths & we do not know which- if any- of the covid related versions that is. Therefore, I would respectfully suggest that the populus should perhaps treat the situation with a bit more respect than many are. Regardless of their wallets , which might fair better, if everyone played by the rules in the first place.
But like you I am desperately hoping that the pandemic will subside enough for us to extend our cruising ground next year. I have gone " cold Turkey" long enough & it is driving me slowly mad.
Little sailing & rising bills do not make for a happy bunny.

Up the west coast again. We would like to get north of Skye this time, perhaps to the Summer Isles. I’ve also got a daughter who’s into climbing and wants dropped of near some hard to get to munros.
