my eldest is doing a challenge for Scouts that involves camping out under canvas at least one night /month for a year.
trying to camp in as many different places as he can last night he planned to camp on the grass next to the YC. i went over to help him pitch the tent etc a big squall ripped the small tent out of our hands and it sailed across into the harbour /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif(We managed to recover it with the dinghy.)
Plan B now the dinghys in the water how about rigging the boom tent on the boat and kipping under that out on the swinging mooring? great fun trying to rig it in the wind but eventually succeeded. The noise generated by a boom tent in a near gale is quite amazing but he stayed fairly dry while I kipped slightly better in the cabin.
One part of his challenge is to camp as close to sea level as possible.I wish I had got a picture of his tent sailing across the bay ,(too busy rowing at the time /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)
I think I am getting too old for all this /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
