At last my ETAP 28i has been sold! It seems to have taken forever, in truth it only took a few months. In the end its having a good boat (best available at the time) and putting it on the market at the right time. We in fact went on the market to soon, spolit our last summer with her!

What is MOST important though is which broker!!!

I choose to use (this is not an advert Kim, just an endorsment) Opal in Chichester harbour, B****y good deal, professional staff and the boat was presented in excellent surroundings. I was concerned that such a big organisation would be impersonal and expensive, not at all, could not be further from the truth. They will get my business and endorsement time and again!

Now I can buy a new boat for Christmas!!!!

Can we all help you choose your new boat? Will you have to change your user name, or are you going for a bigger Etap?

It will be another ETAP, I am about to commit to a 35i, same hull as the current 34S. But I might go for a 32i or 32s. The reason being a berth in Chi marina is £1300 less under 10 meters!

I have looked at other options, but although a lot of boats have a bigger VOLUME in the saloon etc, they dont have the ingenious storage that ETAP have. From a sailing point, the hull shape of an ETAP has its beam fullness midships, which is a little more tradidtional rather than the current trend toward a wedge shape. They are fast and safe. Also the fact that they are a little different apeals to me. It wll be my third ETAP.

But anyway enough about my choice, I am willing to listen, what do you suggest, its not a done deal!

Why Chi marina? It's a long way up the harbour and has that dreadful lock. When we sold our previous boat (Kotka) in Emsworth we went to Northney where we can get in and out at almost any state of tide.

Its only the rich people can afford Northney, look at Ian!

I'm sure I know Kotka, seen it about, is it a Stag 28?

Having looked at Etaps at boat shows, I think they're lovely boats, obviously well liked by their owners becasue so few come up on the second hand market. We debated a new one 30 or 32 when looking for our current boat- if the dealer had got back to us with the finance quotes, things may have been different. There was a beautiful 30i on the Dart, but that sold like a shot.

We have no regrets about our current boat, but would like hot water. It was the sailing trial on the Dehler 34 that really sold us- lovely boat and quick, but not as large down below as others. I rather like the new Dufour 34- seems like a quick comfortable boat. If I was looking for a boat to replace the current one, I'd stay about the same size, but get a few more creature comforts. Unfortunately the new Dehler 34 has a very small aft cabin, so really it's off the list. Like you, there's a big jump in price with increasing length. My boat is currently in a smaller boat isle in the marina, which is cheaper, but makes berthing interestin at times.

An Etap is definately on the list for next time.

Happy Hunting

Yes, she's a stag on the same pontoon as Out to Play. Seen you about when I owned her. Bought current boat August 02 but she was too big for Emsworth so we moved Northney.
