One of the comics gave this a review and since I'd run out of thrillers and wanted a change from Checkhov I sent off for it. Paul packwood ( in his 80s ) sails from the E Coast, down Channel then up the Bristol Channel and through the waterways to the Thames and home. Boat is a Seatrekker - a small chine boat. Very readable although in an understated style without being stiff upper lip. He seems quite casual about petrol in the bilges and absence of charts but I'd guess his tongue is at least partly in cheek. It was a reminder of my first time around boats in the 70s - old gaffers with dodgy stuart Turners, push off and make it up as you go along.
