The Tay

Dylan,

Tell yodave it's a Westerly as well - and see what happens!

A Westerly?

Nobody mentioned a Westerly.

I take everything I said back on the grounds of safety. My advice to you is to do what any sane Westerly owner (if there is such a thing), should do come September; get your boat the hell out of the water before some big waves come along and make a pile of flotsam for the rest of us to navigate around.

my mother is from Invergowrie west of Dundee on the north side upstream of the bridges. Her neighbour kept a small fishing boat on a drying mooring on the beach at Kingoodie. Its very flat and suitable for drying out. You will see other local boats there and a few boat sheds. Also lots of birds and seals. You can walk up to the village from there but I'll admit its not that exciting. Row of shops etc.

You may get some local knowledge from these guys as they spend their life weaving round the sandbanks.

The Tay is a much under explored river waiting for your attention me thinks.

Another vote for Royal Tay Yacht Club. A few club members also are on the lifeboat - good friendly local community club.

The Tay. Beautiful and as with all seductions you can be sucked in or spat out quite surprisingly quickly, getting bruised along the way. But such is the way of love ... and as you have experienced sailing too! Visit the Bell Rock en route and read the Lighthouse Stevenson's for preparation. Will post it on.
There be Monsters! Thanks for the DVD's my 'utterly board is sailing' family sat silently in the kitchen last night sneakily watching while I was out !
