I came across this worrying video the yacht surveyor Ben Sutcliffe about cheap diesel heater exhausts sometimes used on boats, scary stuff.
If the exhausts are so shoddy it does raise the question about the quality of the heaters themselves. I haven't got one so can’t comment but I would be a little wary if I was in the market.

This was covered in my diesel heater thread. The supplied exhaust is for external use typically in a camper van. There are correct exhausts and skin fittings on eBay specifically to overcome this issue for boat use.
Please what ever you do, install a carbon monoxide alarm.
The parents of my in-laws were saved by such an alarm. The gas powered central heating system had just had its obligatory annual service.
They were woken up early in the morning by the alarm. They were taken to hospital for a check over with head-aches and had mild carbon monoxide poisoning.
If they had not been woken up by the alarm, they would now be dead.
Is there a recognised professional body to oversee this stuff ?
As a comparison GORGI ( sp ? ) gas fitters for domestic U.K. gas appliances ?
I know with tenanted properties in the U.K. you need an annual gas cert and yes as Westerman says a functional CO alarm to rent out said property.
Bigplumbs ought to know any house / building DIY electrical works needs a certified electrician from ( insert date ? ) to instal .
Esp if rented and the buyers solicitor via surveys will be searching for the relevant paperwork at sale time of any new electrical instals ..
On the same vein in Switzerland for example every 20 yrs you get a gov inspection of the property and list of updating to current safety standards ( as stds change as time moves on ) .You have 3 months to comply otherwise are barred from living in said dwelling .Ok it’s a 20 y interval but the point is officialdom catches up on bodges and out date standards .
Any gas and CO generating device on a boat ought to have some sort of authority to inspect and regularly certify it .
End of all this semi speculative scare stories and reassurance that theses Chinese 100 quid DIY jobbies arn‘t lethal.
Is not refrigeration gases wrapped up in officialdom ? In the sense only registered engineers with the right training and kit are legally allowed to handle the stuff ?
Something like this regulate them .
On what ?I give up

Plugging a safety loop hole ?
Tenanted U.K. properties gas appliances ( CO generation pov ) are regulated ……seems reasonable to me .
Thats a leaky from air tightness pov pile of bricks + motor never mind a huge piece of impermeable plastic aka a boat .
You mean a few MPs having a after work drink in a garden during lockdown , oiling the wheels of government…….getting into trouble ?If I light a match perhaps the match needs regulating and someone standing by to make sure I don’t put it in my eye. We already have a nanny state and far too much regulation we don’t need more geeeesh
No tangent .Porto Also look up the meaning of Go off on a Tangent
No tangent .
When that word pops up it usually means they ( you ) disagree in a defeated kinda way .
Thanks btw.
As said CO a generating device in a sealed tub ( boat ) needs regulating ……both the instal + maintenance.
Its only a matter of time before it comes rolling down the tracks inho .
I have given a raft of safety related regulation examples to illustrate.
As far you home / castle statement ……as said any DIY electrical instals without certification will wash out at sale time if the buyers surveyor picks them up or indeed the buyer solicitors will ask you to sign a document referring - tick box to any modification( s) .You risk further come back if you falsely those documents.
