The (Red) Code of Practice for the Safety of Smal

The (Red) Code of Practice for the Safety of Small Vessels in Commercial Use for Sport of Pleasure operating from a Nominated Departure Point (NDP).

Right so far I'm struggling once I get to the hso stationary office . Trying to find the F****** right code is ****** ***** ******
Now it seems that a small vessel is classed as craft below 24 m in length for sport or pleasure that is disregarding the term commercial use as I will want to keep any boat I have up to and above that code
What I need is to read the red code so I can then put my self out of the misery re not getting the boat I want cos of size .
The point being well what's the point of buying some thing I cant use due to regs and or codes .

CONFUSED ha good so am I
Cheers
Mick
PS this is not a Saturday night drunken post ha I'm like it all the time .......

We are expecting a revision to the codes soon (ie its overdue). What are you wanting to do with your boat because the codes only apply if you want to expose Joe Public to the elements.

Well as yet I have not even read the codes !! so as for new or up dated ones .

I am still in the struggle of finding another boat which is an on going process.
I dont want to get a boat thats over size re reg's because of manning rules and so on .
I dont have a problem with saftey issues as it's better to be safe than sorry.

Cheers

Codes of practice

http://www.mcga.gov.uk/survey/NewsletterSEPT2002.pdf - page 5

The Red code is ISBN 0115518126 and you will be able to order it from TSO - www.tso.co.uk/bookshop/bookstore.asp. Go to the "Parliamentary & Government" page on their site and use the advanced search feature to enter the ISBN reference.

The Yellow code is more likely to be the one you need unless you're intending to run fishing trips or excursions. That's ISBN 011551857.

Pleasant light reading!
