When I Googled that quote the result added "longest day". Given Brazil is equatorial or southern hemisphere, and Scotland is not, what sense is it supposed to make?According to something that keeps popping up on FB, the sun sets earlier in Brazil than it does in Scotland at this time of year.

Yes, the longest night this year is the night between 21st and 22nd December. The solstice occurs on the 21st at 15:03 GMT. The earliest sunset of the year in the UK was about 10 days ago, and in some parts of the northern hemisphere even occurred on the 24th November, for example Honolulu. The latest sunrise in the UK is near the end of December, about the 30th.Not until tomorrow l thought.
There is a map showing the day/night boundary slanting across the globe. Come to think of it, it must be in mid-summer when it stays light long into the evening up there. When I Googled that quote the result added "longest day". How are you surviving with all that heat and sunlight and absence of penguins? It must be murder for you.Well, I'm currently JUST in the tropics (22.3080° N), and I have noticed that the length of day changes very little.
Well, penguins COULD be possible - they have them in the Galapagos Islands, which are also tropical. But It is somewhat warm - around 23°C at the moment. It may drop to 10°C in January! The locals think this is cold weather...How are you surviving with all that heat and sunlight and absence of penguins? It must be murder for you.
