You need a BESTIA!!! By Magnum, no less:

I know of a fantastic boat that may suit you.

It has a great kevlar hull, a 12 foot beam on a 37 foot boat offering the size of a boat much larger, fitted out to a standard that is way pasy all your Fairlines, Princesses etc. It has differnt styles including open and closed. Does 50 mph and costs a bit over £200k.
This boat is only produced in limited quantities and IMHO outshines all in its class.
There is now a UK agent.

Take a Hunton for a spin, you will then order it and have to wait 18 months for them to have a build slot - we are currently 6 months into the wait.

Since Magnum's have been suggested..take a look at the Otam Millenium 55. Twin 1350 arnies and more usable space than a Magnum, good for 55knts

I had one (11.07 model) I bought second hand from the Genoa show in 2005 and kept at Lavanga 2 X 440hp Yanmars on Jolly drives, maxed out at 68 mph /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif ride was sublime, best I have ever driven, not cheap but really well screwed together, sold it though cus surface drives were a pain astern into a tiny berth and accomodation was pants, fun factor was sky high though.

They build with any engine configuration / drive you want so you could go DPR legs with twin D6's. Built in Italy (of course /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif) in you want info let me know, I have nothing to do with them commercially just got on very well.

Having had two flybridges are you really ready to compromise completely on practicality??

I doubt it, therefore a mainstream hardtop sportcruiser with big engines to get the speed you want sounds best. I wouldn't go too big for UK use, something under 50 foot. If you want to stand out and are prepared to pay for quality, then maybe a Pershing 46?

Magnum, not sure if this would be big enough at 10m, but a mid berth and 70knts?
Built in Norway and beautifully put together, an alternative to the Hunton?
Available with twin D6 370 DPR or Yanmars.

I've experienced the Magnum 50 and an Otam 55 on the water and i was surprised at the difference. The Otam is a heavier boat and certainly felt more glued to the water which suited the surface drives with less trimming required to achieve max performance. Otam pride themselves on performance hulls, as shown with the record 80(Fabio Buzzi record breaker). No surprises it handles the rough stuff well. Agree with you on the Magnum, it is a very well built and solid boat and out performs the Otam for top end performance.

The Otam seems to be 26,000kgs vs 23 for the Magnum. Both extremely heavy for type and length, but not too far apart.

I prefer the Otam's layout and overall style (gotta love that wheel).

Not been on either, but in my un-pc dreams, HEAVY and POWER tick the boxes.

I now have a new boat to dream about going from Phuket to Langkawi for lunch. :)

Options are coming into focus. I could buy something smallish (43') that's a bundle of fun but low on convenience. The Hunton looks good as a highly capable tool but not keen on the 18 month waiting list. It would handle rough weather but it wouldn't be much fun with only an open helm.

An Azimut 43S seems out of the equation now in light of the Peters news.

There are lots of tasty boats suggested in this thread but few with UK support of any kind. That's a far from ideal situation.

So that leaves the main UK 3 - Princess, Sunseeker and Fairline - who should all, in theory, be capable of providing excellent support. The only model that's of interest in the Princess range is the V65, but we had so many problems with our 67 I don't think I could face buying another.

The Predator 62 looks interesting but I've never really bought the whole Sunseeker lifestyle thing. Would be more desireable if it had Arnesons. The Predator 55 does and can be had with 2 x MAN 1100CRM's for 46 knots. Sounds fun.

Which leaves the new Fairline Targa 64

Layout looks superb and same engines as my 67 albeit in a lighter package. 35 knots which isn't electrifying but not too shabby either. It'll be at SIBS.

Got my lads down with me at the moment and was thinking about what we'd be doing now with any of these boats. It's been raining here on and off for the last few days which wouldn't be a bundle of fun in a Hunton/Superhawk, but would be a breeze in a big hardtop.

if you want surface drives
you should consider Pershing 56 or 62
I think they are a step ahead of any of the competition

the Pershing 56 is lovely and feels much bigger then it actually is
UK dealer Venture seems well organized and has a good reputation
as for the Azimut 43 S I am sure a big company like this will resolve the situation for a good UK base as quickly as possible

experienced the Magnum 50 Bestia in a Force 5 head sea with 5 metre waves
experienced the Otam 45 Heritage and the 55 Millienum the later one in a long swell

agree on the comments already stated the Otam is a more glued boat on the water (sticky) something very typical from Italian builders the Magnum feels lighter tough I must admit for speed and performance, my ride with the Bestia was one of the best expeiences ever
makes other boats look child toys in comparison

52 Coupe and 56 triple are a bit of a waiting list too so don't think thats going to help Magnum here, T 64 looks a cracker though, I can see us doing swopsies at the show again with our Fairline chums.....'you show me yours and I'll show you mine' /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You took the words out of my mouth. I was also going to suggest either the 56 or 62 Pershings on arnies.

Riva 63 is very nice too... but it should be.

Fairline somehow seems a little dull in comparison.

A Bestia in 5m seas... WOW! That must have been a buzz!
