Re: The Leopard\'s Afloat........

Gulp!. Fantastic! Not much more to say really. Bet Matt can't wait to have a drive. And well done B1, you're getting much better at this presentation of piccies thing, got it running as a slide show now I see, only thing left to improve is to make it a full screen presentation, but excellent job.

Re: Full Screen Presentation

Gosh, you are difficult to please Colin <BG>
You can get close to a full screen presentation by setting your monitor to 640 x 480 resolution. There is no way you can have it at higher resolutions without unnacceptably long download times as the files would need to be much bigger.

Incidentally, re .....getting much better......Would have preferred.....even better....<ABG>

Re: The Leopard\'s Afloat........

Have had a look at both sites, looks most impressive. Will the boat be Diana and out for charter or something/somewhere else?

Re: The Leopard\'s Afloat........

Matt,

Looks absolutely fabulous. What a beauty.
Hh-hem (clears throat) As the owner of an Italian built boat myself, I can say their design, quality and value is putting the Brit builders to shame.

Re: what on earth..

B1 is right, its is a cctv pic showing came 1 on one of display. Note that thanks to jfm, all the screens on the boat can show this, so the rather boring EngineTV chasnnel can be viewed from that monitor, from any of 4 cabins or in the saloon. If anythng good happens, I will try and record it.

Incidentally, the monitors on the dash can also show the signal from TV's below, meaning that you can drive along whilst weatching the telly, another fabulously impressive feature whose only real advantage is to confuse or dumbfound others - obviously quite successfully....

Re: The Leopard\'s Afloat........

the boat is called diana as you deduced.

Word is that this sort of boat you can try keep it privately...or, get a skipper, so they sort things out whilst absent. However, skipper gets bored and likes poss of earning bit more money doing occassional charter, and income from few weeks a year shd pay for him. Charter obviously means "the skipper drives" in this case.

Re: explaining TVs........

Thx B1 for getting the pics up.

Just to explain the TVs.....

The boat has satellite and TV tuners everywhere and DVD players and stuff. Flat screens in all cabins and saloon. It also has GPS plotter and radar, networked. And it has cameras in the engine room, deck, etc, all zoomable and pointable by joypad on the dash.

Everything is networked so you can watch anything anywhere. Normally you would have TV/DVD/Sat in the cabins, and plotter/radar on the 2 big dash screens (these 2 are daylight viewable), and the engine room on the small screen by helmsman left knee. But you can just as easily have engine-room-camera on the main saloon TV, and watch TV and DVD on the dashboard, and plotter and radar in the cabins! Any permutation is possible! And the TV sound is feedable to the speakers in the cockpit.

Fabulous stuff. This is the best dashboard on the planet and I think the Ital craftsmen who made it thought so too, they were very proud of it. The whole top panel is screwed down with recess allen head screws, and when you remove them it all comes up on gas struts so you can work on the electronics underneath! Drool away........

Re: Beautiful, Matt - fantastico!

but what's this thing you have with purple? Don't I remember seeing similar in piccies of your flat? Must be the royal blood in you or SWMBO:)
p.s. take care not to drive into something hard whilst you are watching all that stuff on the dash!

Re:the color purple

guilty - yes, infact I took a piece of that material in and said "never mind the wood colour yet - the saloon sofa is going to be thsi colour". The internal wood colour and everything else comes from that. Psychologically, I think this may be a very good idea to have similar familar colours in flat and boat, and so far everyone has agreed with this and use the word "psycho" quite a lot....

Bellissimo

Ab Fab, Matt. Well thats John R's launch party and yours to look forward to now.........
Love the cockpit lights - bet they didnt come out of the Simpson-Lawrence (RIP) catalogue, love the walk-in engine room, the switch panel on the helm is a work of art and the CCTV is brill. Can you see all the instruments from the helm seat? The MBY test bods (MBY are lined up for a test surely?) might burn you a bit on that
Erm, looks a bit small next to the other mega yachts though. Any thoughts on trading up yet?

Re: Bellissimo

Ooh I'm sure i can't see all the instruments from the helm seat. But I can watch the radar/gps/tv and engineroom.

This is their Popular Plus model, smallest and cheapest they now do, and I'm not allowed (?) to drive much bigger than 23m, nor er can I get a wider boat in our berth. So, that's that.

incidentally, some bloody awful "bespoke" choices being made. The boat behind has three separate tables, each enclosed by Happy Eater enclosures, almost like a small restaurant on the deck. Down below a rabit warren of 4 bedrooms and tiny saloon. All beautifully made, I must say, but not sure if the choices made are what the owner envisaged, not even saleable in some instances.
