This morning allgadgets.co.uk had a Code 10 to authorise. For those who don't know this is when something about the client or the details given look doubtful and provides a manual security check. I haven't had to do one for months. To achieve it I first had to find where I last left the manual swipe machine and the dockets, plus the paperwork with the special telephone number, and the card with my Merchant Number on it.

My first job was to swipe the docket through the manual machine, and there being no room on the desk I did it on my lap. It went one way fine, but got stuck on the return. So I turned the machine in my lap to face towards me and gave a big heave on the roller. It came with a rush and as it hit the end stop it trapped my trousers, underpants and contents between the roller and the end stop!

There appears to be no blood, but there was sweat and yes, even tears.

Could you be a bit more specific about the problem.

1, What make and model of roller and end stop were fitted.
2, Did the trapping incident happen at displacement, semi displacement of planing speeds?
3, Are you sure the sweat and tears were as you assume, did you taste them to find out if they were salty?
4, Although there may be no blood at present it is my opinion moisture levels of this magnitude will undoubtedly lead to some blistering in the future. You should have a through survey of the bottom end to make sure you are not going to be in for another nasty surprise.

All IMHO, FWIW etc.

This posting sounds rude to me and full of innuendo. Kim! You are the Wordsmith, should the posting be pulled as being too rude for our delicate sensibilities?

1. Twin turbo DataCard Addressograph 12149175
2. Definitely planing
3. I worked on the basis that this is the usual lubricant visible at this interface when a seal fails.
4. Good point, I shall ask Nursey in the Allgadgets sick bay to carry out a full survey at next haul out.

Laughing too much

Errr...no. Shaking too much at the admittedly not completely tasteful vision of this happening to be able to hit the delete button. Besides, great material for an article we're putting together in International Boat Industry on the state of the UK retail business for chandlery, particularly with reference to disappearing margins and the bottom line /forums/images/icons/smile.gif.

Even allowed the allgadgets plug; just how magnanimous can one get?

All sounds good except your insistance that this incident occured at planing speed, it sounds much more like you were at semi displacement and accelerating "over the hump" to me.

No, I've considered your opinion in detail, but I think use of a harder material would have avoided the problem completely. A totally different angle of attack.

BTW, can we stop this now? Kim will be antagonised.

In truth no, but I had a mariners nightmare (a visit to the Horse of the Year Show), followed by two days at the "Tackle and Guns" trade show so this was my first chance to bring you this thrilling news!
