"Le Rayon Vert" is worth reading if you're thinking of thinking of taking a trip through the Corryvreckan whirlpool - it's set in Argyll and the Inner Hebrides. The green flash was the "sign the heroine was seeking as an indication that her present state of desparation was about to end". Since reading it, I've been sailing around these parts looking for desparate women rather than flashes in the sky...
