The forums new look

The colour is a a bit wishy washy, and the white background is a bit bright on the eyes

Agree. The new colour scheme is VERY hard to view; not enough contrast, with a glaring background. My own eye conditions (which is perfectly well-corrected) means that I find the new forum colours very tiring to read. I note that bold text is much easier on this scheme!

well, everything seems to work, though it took me a while to find the equivalent of clicking the "usercp" button!

Don't like the pastel shades; i feel as if i'm looking through a fog! And an introductory "sticky" post explaining the changes might be useful; more use than some of the stickies, anyway!

+1

a little improved at 125% but come on admin... Improve the font ...... Please!!

Looks awful on an iPad too. Feels like you are viewing in portrait when it's in landscape. Too bright. Too much space.

Big step backwards...sorry guys.

I suspect that I may have done summatm but I was viewing a post (mast lowering On R2R, via my android phone) and noticed thatthe last post was at the top of the thread.....er, what have I done wrong. Oh yes, I was viewing via me alter-ego Havant a Clew.

Hmm

Been reading for a while and now have to stop as it's becoming a strain to read.

Sorry guys, it's not good as it stands at the moment.

Go to 'Settings' at top right, then 'General Settings', then scroll down to 'Thread View Options' Change to 'Linear , Oldest Post First'

Remember to scroll down and 'Save Settings'

Thanks everyone for your feedback.

We've had to upgrade to the more recent version of the same software we've been using for years. The upgrade has come down from the top to meet security and stability issues so I've had no say in it, I'm afraid. I can however, try and address some of the issues you've listed.

1) Text/font is hard to read
2) 'Open first unread' button needs to be clearer
3) Search for previous posts function not working (?)

I will discuss these issues with the developers and see what can be done.

In the meantime please post further feedback in the Website news and feedback forum.

Thanks for coming on and explaining the rationale for the changes. And I fully understand the point about eventually needing to apply an upgrade to the base software, for security and stability reasons like you indicate. Applies to all such systems.

Equally though I do agree with many of the others about the washed out style - may look great to some designer geek on a large screen Apple Mac but not so great on some other devices. Not the biggest deal though

Just look at the "depth" of a post like this one
DAMN near 1/2 a screen deep
