Anyone know who hit the Starboard marker for the Dolphin? I think it's been like it for a while ever since they replaced it.

I notice that the ladder attached to it is severely buckled I assume from some impact.

Doesn't surprise me though. They'd only replaced the buoy with the bar beacon in Portsmouth Harbour for a few days before someone had really warped the ladder out of almost all recognition.

Moreover, the number who don't know which side to pass is still a tad worrying.

Despite being a frequent user of Portsmouth harbour, I still have to remind myself of which side to pass Ballast on. Why on earth couldn't they have made the arrows a little larger?

Re: Ballast Pile

I've always thought they should have this:

on it. The people who go the wrong side probably haven't read and never will read a LNTM but they might just recognise that.
If you try to get near enough to read the text on it with any tide running you will probably hit it.

Don't think so Ken. We still drive on the right according to QHM.

"A traffic pattern is established around Ballast Beacon; Small Boats entering the harbour are to pass close to the east of Ballast Beacon and those exiting close to the west."
