The Delivery Trip - Lots of Pictures

I would be interested to know how much behind schedule you were by the time you got in to Swanwick

In fact we had an ETA before the snagged pot and then after we left Weymouth and after the small increase in speed the ETA was almost exactly one hour later - so the quick turn around really worked.

The whole day turned out well.

I was hoping to meet with Maricom and JB (covers) but I really didnt expect to. So once we were in the Solent, I called Maricom and they were actually working at Swanwick that afternoon anyway. On entering the Hamble, I did the same to Jim at JB and guess what - he too was working at Swanwick.

So after tieing up, I was able to spend some time with both of them so that they can get started fitting out. Maricom already have most of the kit (including the new digital radar which I understand are as scarce as hens teeth). They held off getting two of the displays in as I wanted to fit the biggest ones that the boat will take. In fact, it is very obvious now that we actually have the boat that only the small 12 inch displays will fit. They are actually bigger that conventional plotters anyway.

After a very useful thread on this forum, I've agreed with Jim that we are going to attach the bimini directly to the radar arch (despite Magnum's advice not to) and he agrees that webbing forward straps will be easier than poles or s/s wires and tensioners. I've used Jim before so I'm very comfortable with his work - indeed so are many others on this forum.

Note to Deleted User - I mentioned that your strap flapps/buzzes - Jim says make one turn in the webbing before you attach it. The air flow will then spiral around the webbing and not vibrate the strap - an old lorry drivers trick - he said.

Hi
As we said on Wednesday when we saw the pics she is lovely. Hope she is not getting blown about too much in this terrible weather, we have decamped to Gosport library where it is warm and still!!!
Looking forward to seeing all those gizmos working on her!

Congratulations Mike and Mary. Really sorry I missed you at Wokingham on Wednesday, I almost put off our trip north so that I could come down but SWMBO didnt really appreciate the suggestion.

Boat looks great, and you two look great on it. Nice to see the final result of so many months planning.

Thanks mike and many congratulations. The post reminded me of the same deliv trip in magnum's princess67 in 2005. We left from exactly the same pontoon in sutton and moored up to exactly the same pontoon outside princess's office. We were lucky not to have to do the weymouth juant, as there were only two of us on board (trying to figure out how to operate the thing so we could easily have missed a lobstor pot!) Hope all goes well with the next stage

Houghn I'm on my boat at the moment with same steering wheel and there is no manufacturer name on them, sorry, just "made in italy" stamped on the back

Wow, excellent report. I like this kind of posts on the forum (also the Magnum one) a lot better than the traditional recent ones about red diesel /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The detailed writeup and nice pîcs are very entertaining and interesting for those who have never been there. It's indeed always interesting to see other places one maybe never will get to.

What an impressive boat too ! Everything looks so small from up there on the flybridge.

Congratulations, both of you look like some very happy owners !

Enjoy the trip to the Med and please continue to send us your reports.

Alain

Good tip about the webbing, Hurricane. I'm off to the boat tomorrow and I'll try it
The P67 looks utterly fab and I look forward to the Med trip reports. Where are you berthing btw?

Great post, thanks for taking the time, looking forward to the med trip photos.
Oops, nearly forgot, nice (understatement) boat! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

A fine looking vessel, sir (and this from a raggie /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif)

One small question - what has Mrs Hurricane done to be demoted to foredeck crew? Is she not up to helming in confined waters yet or is she not on the policy as a named driver? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

[/ QUOTE ]Darn, I missed this very interesting post for some reason.
Congratulations Mike for such a gorgeous boat!
You maybe sorted the wheel doubt in the meantime, but just in case, it definitely looks like a Ultraflex.
I guess a special version of V61 model (can be found scrolling down the linked page), it's not unusual for OEM suppliers to customize their products for big builders.

Continued from first post

We were getting a bit behind schedule so, as the water was now significantly flatter, the speed was increased. Over Lyme bay, we had been doing around 23knots through the water. The flatter seas allowed us to cruise at over 26knots and a much more comfortable ride as well.

And the finally we came into some familiar terroritory.

By being a little late, the tide had now changed direction and we were picking up a good 3 knots extra so even with the engines at around 2150rpm, we were doing close to 30knots over the ground.

And then into very familar terroritory - this is the bit where those that havent seen the Hamble might be impressed - there must be a few quids worth of boats in this river.
Anyway - here is chart of the Hamble and a sequence of shots up to Swanwick.

And finnally into a berth right outside the Princess offices.

It was also a little emotional as well - during the run up the river, we passed Mercury Yacht Harbour

Where the old boat is still berthed - she was also a great boat to us and I believe the new owner is enjoying her as well.
Her she is

So - there we are.
This was the whole recorded track - according to Memory-Map.

Another phase over.
Now its a few weeks more work fitting electronics and a bimini etc

So this is where we left her when we set off to Wokingham to have a few beers with some of the YBW forumites. BTW a very big thanks to Princess staff - especially Adam who has arranged things so far and who took the time to run us up to Wokingham to meet with our friends. Actually, he is well known to them as well having sold many of them their boats in the past.

Good-night JennyWren

“After nine years aboard the Alien Spacecraft ‘Krktyrlhazaar’, the boat and crew were returned to the water, and continued their voyage...”

Thanks, M, for reviving these old threads. They are just what’s needed (especially) at this time of the year :encouragement:

Sorry guys
I was just "patching" the Photobucket images so that they worked.
I've done lots of my old threads.
Most of the time, the threads don't get "touched" so they don't find their way back to the new threads.
But this one had 35 pics in the first (which was allowed in those days) post but now the forum only allows 20 pics per post so I just split it into two posts.
Unfortunately, that had the effect of "touching" the thread and bringing it to the top.
