We recently visited the factory in Vigo, Spain to view Rodman’s latest addition – the new Spirit 31 Coupe.
Rodman is promising a different kind of boat and fit out for its Spirit models. The circular ‘multi positioning’ seating in the cockpit is designed to act as either transom or social surround, with the seat bases running on sailboat-style tracks that lock into place. The interior layout has a forward master cabin that is on par with a 35ft cruiser, with guest berth and large saloon/dinette. The new range has been designed by Fulvio De Simoni and oozes Italian elegance.
The 31 is available with single or twin engine options and is shaft driven.
She will debut in the UK at the Southampton Boat Show in September, but for anyone wanting a sneak preview the boat will be arriving in Chichester in August. For further information please contact ben@rbsmarine.com
We look forward to hearing from you.

Bit blatant, don't you think?

Ben's cool. Don't worry about him touting.
I'd do the same if I had something to tell you all about.

Anyway, he's helped me with info on my coming delivery so he's alright in my book.

Nice looking boat Ben.
Similar/ish to the new offering from Jeanneau?

I was being a bit tongue in cheek. A number of people post on here and subtly push their products but:

(a) They usually establish a presence on here first and make positive contributions, before they start plugging their products (pretty sure this is what you did?) and

(b)They do so in a slightly less brazen way :)

Some interesting ideas on the boat but I'm guessing Rodman haven't developed it for their domestic (Spanish?) market ;)

Just a thought Ben - for the maximum effect in this little sales plug, you should have really put your photos in photobucket, rather than simply attaching them - you can only see the photos if you are logged in, hence you have effectively excluded 90% of the readers from seeing these photos.
But if they were in photobucket, then they would still 'come up', even if the viewer is not logged in.

This is quite interesting for me. Currently considering the Jeanneau NC11, Swift Trawler 34 and Greenline 33 as potential next boats. must have hard top and patio doors. The NC11 is top of the list so far in terms of just about everything except price.

Do you have any idea about what the retail will start at on the new Rodman?

New Rodman 31

Hi all, thanks for your comments on the new 31, really looking forward to getting her, we were at the factory last week giving her the once over.

Thanks for the comments Nautibusiness, always happy to help anyone that has any questions about the Roddies!

Thank you also Bajansailor for the info regarding photobucket, I shall remember this in the future.

With regards to the pricing we are still a little unsure but expect the 'on the water price' to start at around £110k Inc. for the single engine version, there will be an open and flybridge version to follow.

Love to hear any comments good or bad.

Cheers.

There are some neat design ideas there. Aft deck sofa thing looks very clever - it outSealines Sealine! And some nice detailing on the interior. Lousy helmseat but that can be changed. Do you have some more pics, prices, engine details?

Ben

I like the look of the boat and if the hull is up to the job (knowing Rodman it will be good) I bet she'll win some fans.

...how do I persuade you to let me have a little run?

Rodman Spirit 31

Nautibusiness, she'll be with us in August, and I too am very keen to seatrial her, I'll keep you posted.

Jfm, agree with you about the helm seat in the renders, it does look too small, but I am sure that they will use a proper seat on the finished product, unfortunately the boats which we we saw in the production line at the factory didn't have helm seats fitted yet, so we're just going to have to wait and see.

Engine options will be single Volvo D4 300's, twin Volvo D3 170's and 220's all on shaft drive.

I'm afraid that I cannot release any more images just yet:mad:

Choice of engines will no doubt put some off. If i were otherwise interested in the boat, i would certainly be put off. From what i read, they aren't the best of engines.

I think that you are referring to the D3's, indeed there were a few issues with these engines, however they have been completely redesigned and the new D3 170's are the next generation from what I have been told.

The D4's have generally been a good all rounder.

It would, IMO, be nice if builders offered other engine options, rather than just Volvo engines.

I agree, you can't go wrong with choice! Rodman have chosen the Volvo for it's power output, from their calculations I beleive that they would have struggled to achieve a minimum of 20kts cruising with the other engine options.

We may also see Yanmar as being an option at a later date, but for now Volvo are the engine of choice.

That sliding rear seat arrangement looks like it might be a bit iffy when it gets a bit worn and full of grit and sand.

I was thinking that, at first it looks like an inspired idea, but then if boarding from the bathing platform it looks a pain to push the seats apart rather than just open a small transom gate, also when open they seem to block the side deck access steps. Still a good excuse to check it out at SIBS:)

I do like the look of that boat and the transom idea, also appealing with the single engine option and the hardtop.

It ticks many boxes for me, I will have a closer look at the SIBS.

Thanks for posting.

Oki Doki.

On a more positive note..... i like that it's available with a single engine on a shaft, very much. I like the overall look of the boat, inside and out. I like that it doesn't have a flybridge. With a starting price of £110 it looks like it'll be very good value.

I'm not convinced about the slidy setees, not sure where i'd put me rod holders :)

Looking forward to giving it the once over at SIBS though.
