The 10% rule

Anyone else notice that if you stay of the forum for a bit, when you log back in the number of new topics is always about 10% of the total number of posts. You have to have reasonable gap between logging in for this to work, but it's a pretty steady average.

I only mention this cos I hit the perfect 10% when I just logged in. New topics 17, new posts 170.

Well, it amused me anyway....!!

At risk of being boring, it's easily expained by the fact that MBC typically averages 10 posts per thread. The other forums have different ratios and they tend to be similar over time too...

Also at risk of being boring, it seems like the average mobochat forumite has the attention span of a hyperactive goldfish. Many's the interesting thread that's buried by the "oh gosh, I haven't posted anything for five minutes, what crap can I write next" mentality. IMHO of course.
