My mast collapsed last Thursday week in Chichester Harbour giving me more than a lot of grief. May I publicly place on record my deep appreciation for the fantastic service rendered by the harbour staff in recovering all of my gear which had to be jettisoned. Their professionalism was of the highest standard and their quiet and reassuring assistance took the sting out of a very nasty experience. Thanks Roger and crew.

Nick. Yes, harbour rescue in F6 was better than having it somewhere like the Looe Channel, where I had originally intended to be transiting that day! - and I escaped injury. Replacement mast imminent. First time out this year due to prolonged family illness and this is the latest in a run of misfortune. But hey - it can only get better!

Mark. No idea of cause, simply folded about a foot south of the spreaders, unless old age.
