Well that is quite a little storm coming through. Not often you see F12 in a Jersey shipping forecast, large swell and good sized seas. Windy giving 27’ waves in the Channel!! Hope everyone is prepped and will be safe!!

Our phones have just sounded a government warning here in Cornwall with a red weather warning. Inshore forecast says:

Lyme Regis to Lands End including the Isles of Scilly - Strong wind warning

24 hour forecast: Cyclonic 4 to 6 increasing severe gale 9 to violent storm 11, but increasing hurricane force 12 for a time at first in west, becoming northwesterly 6 to gale 8 later. Slight or moderate at first in east, otherwise rough or very rough, then becoming high or very high for a time except in east. Rain or squally showers. Moderate or poor, occasionally good.

And shipping forecast for Plymouth:

Southwesterly gale force 8 increasing violent storm force 11 imminent, veering westerly and increasing hurricane force 12 soon

Hope everyone was safe! Turns out my forward hatch wasn’t secure so still have a hatch and a damp forecabin……..

Well it was quite windy in Cornwall. Big tree down taking the power lines with it, and that's just in our garden. Many villages without power, including Mylor, and lots of boats came adrift in the Fal last night...

We ended up with 7 taskings. At least 3 boats that I know were badly damaged or driven ashore as mooring broke. Another 4 boats knocked over ashore. Countless shredded sails and cockpit covers; a good time to be a sailmaker! Meanwhile on land huge amounts of damage with many trees down, power lines down and disruptions to water supplies. Some villages almost completely cut off. One person killed by falling tree in Helton and many near misses.
