We were the twits on Burnham pontoon this afternoon.

Thank you so much to all who helped us, otherwise we might still be there!

We said we would learn to sail by practising, I guess we will learn to moor the same way!

P.s., where has the embaressed smily gone? I was going to use that...

Don't worry about it. Really. The simple fact that you recognised that it wasn't done well mean you'll make an excellent sailor. Also, it's worth knowing that even the best sailors cock it up now and then. I was told a story recently, about a world class sailor that made a huge mistake... although I promised not to mention it, so I won't.

I can handle my little boat in close quarters incredibly well now, but even so, I still make the odd pontoon head butt. The trick is to know when you're messing it up, and bail out for another go before it's too late. If it is too late, well, just try and do the best you can. If anybody dares take the proverbial, then they have forgotten what it's like to start out sailing, and if they've forgotten that then they aren't very good.

Keep on at it. I'd let you moor up next to Kudu any day. The company of a humble sailor is worth much more than than the price of a small knock.

As long as you and the boat are in one piece ................. does it really matter ?. I think one of the gretaest things about our pastime is that you never stop learning. Isn't it great fun !!!!!
