The overwhelming votes I received were 'YES' so I am going to use these votes to take us out of the EEC and make us a US State. I will agree to the obvious demand that the USA will make, that is that they be allowed to abolish their Presidency and appoint H.M. the Queen as their Head of State too. They will of course give her the White House as her U.S. Palace.
Whether we allow their top yacht club change it's name to the Royal New York Yacht Club will be a matter for further debate.

Out with the tumbril

She's German but married to a Greek. Doubt she fulfills US nationality requirements. However they can have her offspring with pleasure and Buck house would make a vg golf course.

Up the Republic!

Re: not an idea - policy! !

we've already voted, so point in discussing wheather it is or isn't a good idea.

Incidentally, I am just agreeing terms for chartering this boat in France. Everything is quoted in US dollars.

Hung voters?

Hardly overwhelming Byron, I counted 9 definate yes's, 7 inconclusive (remarkable when you simply asked for a yes or no!) and 2 definate no's. Could nearly have been a hung thingy....but with your own floating vote I guess you get to extradite the Royale Family. Nice way of doing it.....letting them believe they are takin over good ol US of A. Better for them than sitting watching telly all day. Now that you have control over everything in the UK how about a revised budget statement?

Re: picky picky

But the no's weren't very definite no's. Whereas the yeses all support big business and digging for oil todrive round in large powerboats. Also, if you notice, the no's and the don't knows didn't properly mark the ballot paper, the chads weren't quite in the right plave, and some of them might have been to florida, so according to legal precent they don't count.

and now, lets have a party. And nice flags too, none of that flimsy red with a teeny little union flag in the corner. Incidentally, what is the flag? And we don't have to drive at 55mph do we? Oh say have you heard, tra la erm ..

Re:ahem

in the US, in a bar with Mrs S , I was challenged to prove my age. I was 30ish at the time. I laughed but realised he was serious. The passports were in the hotel. it must have been fifteen years since I had ever been asked if underage, and remonstrated with bartender: "And what about my wife, are you chellnging her? " "Oh no, shes DEFINITELY over 21"!! we left, and not visited since...

Same thing happened to me in California when I was twenty-seven. The barman asked if I could prove I was over 21 and I thought "ahh what a sweetie", until I realised he wasn't joking and we had to go back to the hotel for my passport. Mr. B wasn't asked to prove his age, and he's my toyboy !
