Re:ID

I've been asked at least 3 times for ID this year when buying wine or beer in GA-------and I'm 61-----today, as it happens. Pearl Harbor Day as it also happens. Cruisin' S. for a couple of days. Flat sea, 30C.

Re: Ensigns

Oh go on - let them have a bit of defacement. After all, think of what you will be wearing as President. I am sure you will not follow Townie and forget to change when all others are in tails.

Re: Ensigns

Not my decision Chas, it's two Dukes, the Lords of the Admiralty and the now disbanded committee. Anyway the Admiralty will have far too much on their plate having to take command of the U.S.Navy. I think I will let the U.S.Coastguard continue under their own command for two reasons. (i) They know what they're doing (ii) They have existed longer than the U.S.Navy. and I like the old USCG joke about a patrol boat mooring aganst a US Warship and a sailor leaning over shouting "whats it feel like mooring against the largest navy in the world" and a U.S.Coastguard yelling back "great! what's it like being moored with the best navy in the world"

Life of Byron

saw the pst and mind went into overdrive

I have this horrible thought of Byron throwing back the doors on his boat and us all shouting those words (how shall we P ..........)

Re: Ensigns

I like the one about the US Navy and Canadian Lighthouse. A real golden oldy, but still makes me chuckle.

As I said a real golden oldy, so don't need to put it up again. But if anyone not heard it, well.............

I'm sure someone can post it!

Re: ahem

I suppose I had better arrange for Concorde to fly us all out to the States for an assessment run, though under the circumstances possibly rent the Oriana as so many of you will want to bring your family too. We will need the whole of A Deck naturally, I mean it wouldn't be fitting for us to travel on a lower deck.
What about gun laws? D'you guys want us to be like Texas or stay as we are?

Re: gun laws

I think we ought to shoot first and ask questions later - but with a strictly-enforce "water pistols only" policy. Eventually, it will be quite common for us to have large powerful 2" hose pipe guns on the foredeck, much more use than a load of cushions.

Re: Nuts

BarryD - Was that "nuts?"or "nuts"? If you meant "nuts?" yes there were plenty of coconuts. Just back after a beautiful weekend. In fact, absolutely b----y idyllic. And only used 150+ US gal of petrol.
