I have just found the post from EA_Thames in response to the earlier thread about locks. It will not have escaped the notice of Forum members that they failed to address or refer to the use of Hurley lock cut by 'hospitality craft' during Henley week. I guess one could argue there was not a lot they could say.
However now we have their 'attention' maybe we can address the question of unlicenced craft or is that another 'thorny problem' best swept over the weir.

<font color=blue>Unlicenced craft? My experience is that if Envag spot it they are hot on it. Indeed sometimes 'over the top' as in when the Old Bill were reported on New Year's day for being unlicenced for that year and a riverside farmer was reported when some of his party guests tied together 4 barrels and played rafting in the river. True stories I kid you not.

These guys are quite hot!
A fortnight ago when delivering a Sealine 43 from Jersey, I was stopped at Teddington lock and asked for the paperwork!
10 minutes later and some hurried scribbling I was able to continue on my way to Penton Hook.

Probably a moot point but do any of the skiff oarsmen realise that a 43ft shaft drive flybridge boat is quite a handfull, especialy when running on one engine to reduce wash in the tighter confines?
I hope that the vocal few advertising Kenco coffie try to row the Solent one day!

Oarsmen have never given any indication of intelegence to date so why should they start appreciating other peoples problems now ???

<font color=blue> Sorry about that. I thought it was common knowledge that Rowers have their brain extracted and washed of all maritime knowledge prior to being allowed on the waterway. Not that it matters because no rules apply to them anyway.

I just tell them to get an engine, when they quote cut the wash to a boat within 10 miles and doing 2 ktns.

With all that effort and no brain - no wonder they are all miserable.

PS - As posted nice to see the EA catch up us, lets hope they can take some points raised and make improvements.
