Was down by the river at Marlow today, first time for many years, and was amazed at the speed the river was flowing although only a foot higher than normal I was told. Now even allowing for the recent rain and time of year it seems much faster than in my youth...20+ years ago.Is this all in my mind, is it that things move faster with age or is there a 'real reason'?

Went down to taplow, was really chucking it through wonder if it has anything to do with this new flood river they constructed.

Hope it slows down soon ,got to move the boat from RYB to taplow.

The River is running fast but this is quite normal after heavy rains. The speed of flow is not even that of what one sees at say Langstone Harbour mouth on a flood tide and shouldn't affect movements of any experienced boatman assuming {a} he has sufficient power (b) the extra height makes the bridges too tight.

Mike, Mike, Mike, you have been spending too much time in Blakey's company listening to his views of Broom owners. Yes! I agree you look decrepid, sick and close to death even but you really aren't that old mate.

Brooms are the best production line boats on the market, generally owned by more experienced owners so hence the reputation for being owned by older people.

Broom

Went on the CL35 and CL38 at the boat show, lovely boats with lashings of head room. 'Fraid they are definately in the "when I win the lottery" class for me.

Re: Broom

In defense of Broom -

1) I'm not old - just 45
2) Not experienced - First boat -ever
3) In my first season I've done over 200 hours and 1,000 miles (not bad when you're based on the Thames), so I do take it out.
4) Moving boat down to South Coast this season so we can enjoy it even more
5) Not the richest B***ger around but I think - even as a complete novice - I recognised quality, and service (REALLY IMPORTANT I am in the service industry and this country in general does not have a clue what that REALLY means)
6) I did the research
7) I cannot fault after sales service and support
8) I was never patronised nor taken for granted
9) I would definitely buy from Broom Again
10) Yes I do know that I'm really, really fortunate to be able to afford one from new but in hindsight it is the boat I would always aspire to own.
110 So stop the stereotyping (oops spell, sorry passion and comments means just a little too much of whiskey - hic!)
