Thames Burgee

Didn't know there was a Thames forum burgee.

I have a YBW forum burgee on my staff denoting a rat sipping champers. You get that off HLB. Nice guy, for a Lancashire bloke.

To fly it correctly, you have to stick two fingeras up at flag etiquette andd go with the flow. If a yottie goes into a state of apoplexy over it, so much the better.

OK - permit me to correct some extremely distressing errors .

I designed the YBW Motorboat Forum Burgee many moons ago and before the advent of the Thames Forum.

It was originally meant to be a bit of a joke and depicts a MOUSE (note MOUSE, NOT rat !!!) sipping a martini - the connotation being a MOUSE as in computer (web forum see??) and a MARTINI as in the percieved predilection for a glass or two being representative of your average mobo owner.

Having 'flown' the design on my wenbsite, HLB (he of the exploding bog and muckyfarter fame) promptly decided to make a few and the rest is history. It sort of became the ybw forums burgee as others picked up on it but I think I can fairly claim ownership and HLB can claim the credit for actually making it available.

Anyways, MOUSE please NOT rat !!!

As for qualifying to wear it - just gotta be a bona fide member of the ybw forums - whichever variety.

Hi Richard,go over to the MoBo chat forum and find any post by HLB.
Click on his burgeee link and all will be revealed.
Only qualification to possses and fly is the princely sum of about £15.00 and the abillty to swear that black is white on this forum and to complain long and loudly if you ever actually have to do anything for yerself regards lock passage.:)

Oh good, that will widen the number of potential members hugely :p

The burgees are of extremely high quality - not printed, but double thick material with the emblem embroidered on it.

I fly mine (should not be "worn" on the flagstaff), on what passes for a cross tree on my boat, and regret that I've not seen any one else flying one this season. But then we do cruise the less popular reaches of the River.

My dear boy, I bow to your information regarding the aforementioned burgee. On reflection, yes; the glass is a hiball type with an olive in it.

I may still tell everyone it is a Lounge Rat though.

Should you require distressing further, please feel free to contact me to discuss your requirements. :D

Having recently ordered mine. Where is the correct place to fly a Burgee. Is under the National Flag acceptable. Or should it go on the front ?

Thanks
Matt
