a difficult one this, but I'm sure somebody out there will know the answer. I'm trying to find a small hand spray, gun To spray PVA (Polyvinyl alcohol ) over gel coat, in order to cure it. I know that I can use wax additive, or polythene, but I particularly want to use a hand spray with PVA. I have tried a few and they all seem to give out a solid stream instead of a fine mist, I also know I could you use an air gun.........any ideas.
Thanks in anticipation

I've got a power washer with a bottle on the nozzle to put detergent or whatever in - I tried waxoyl in it on the car last autumn and it worked a treat - the local body shop says they should have the wings straightened any day now! What about warming up the wax then using a standard paint sprayer from a compressor?

I probably didn't explain myself properly in my first post.
Normally to cure of gel coat you can do one of two things, add wax additive to the gel coat in the mixing stage or cover the wet gel coat with polythene or similar the inhibit the air, adding wax additive is fine.. but if you do that and get air pinholes, you will not get the gel coat to re stick to that patch (wax in the gel coat). Using polythene is not always practical especially on corners. We (the royal we)
use PVA (a mould release agent) in moulds and it does the same job (inhibiting the air and stopping the gel coat from sticking to it).
What i want is a small hand held spray bottle with an adjustable spray to turn the PVA (Polyvinyl alcohol) into a fine mist so that I can spray it on a repair, The few bottles I have tried have no spray adjustments on them and tend to send out a jet of PVA and not a mist. I have a compressed air spray gun but with this stuff it should work with a small hand held bottle and hand pump handle....cant find one anywhere..... Phew
Thanks for all your replies

Aerosol + solvent + spark from say a compressor= something quite loud and very exciting for the neighbours to watch!

I think I have your drift.

Finnigans produce what they call a wand for application of waxoyl rust treatment for cars. The idea is that the wax/white spirit solution in a three litre drum is put under pressure by a hand pump. So long as the waxoyl is warm enough (stand in a bucket of hot water) the pressure is enough to produce an "atomised" spray. A helper who will keep pumping is good.
In cars its used to penetrate nooks and cranies in bodywork to seal out damp/air. Can be wiped off with white spirit.
