Half the fleet not following instructions about handicapped loops. and no penalties for doing so, no marks to round on loops not clear which way to round waypoints after loops.
Don't think I'll be finishing

When I signed in, I had a big red line, and was started in the middle of no where. So didn't really even consider getting out of where I was.

It only looked as though it was last due to the looping system.

It was difficult sailing two boats at the same time especially when I went to bed. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Then to cap it they shortened the course late yesterday afternoon. so the handicap loops would have been all to pot.
Still, looking forward to leg 2 of VOR on SOL

The handicap loops were based on time and not distance. 32 hrs was the time they were aiming for but the last loop was variable to account for light / heavy winds.

The course shortening didn't affect anyone detrimentily.

I thought it was fun, SWMBO wasn't quite so impressed. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I don't see a problem with the loops or the course shortening. These things happen in real races and loop B already had lots of options built into it. If the course hadn't been shortened, then the faster First boats would have had an advantage. As you say, this type of course depends on time not distance - a bit like a pursuit race.

The main question is whether the umpire is going to disqualify those boats that didn't complete loops properly or went round marks the wrong way. I saw plenty of those but at the end of the day it is only a game.

I am coming in just outside the top 100. Not bad since I abandoned the race for up to 18 hours at a time. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

My SWMBO is also not impressed with my efforts. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif They need training. Is there a course we can send them on?

The 1st , 2nd and 10th placed boats on the current leader board were disqualified by the umpire, I assume more will follow.
Had you been around at 03:30am on Sunday morning you would have seen this in the Chat window. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I was a litle dissapointed that no one from here got up to cheer me across the finish line in 8th place. (tut)

Can't help with the course for SWMBO. Perhaps a new credit card for her might help, or at very least a new pair of Marigolds. (runs for cover).
