I have a 27ft cruiser with a built in swim platform, I would like to be able to carry a tender and small outboard. Would snap davits do the job and are they easy to deploy and recover the tender?

Snap davits are ok but not with outboard. So need to take it off every time. Best to stick with 2hp motor, that you can take off easy. Or get propper davits of course.

Weaver, who make Snapdavits, do make an attachment which allows the motor to swivel and remain fixed to the dinghy in the carrying posn. I agree w/Haydn however; stick to small motor for easy handling and detach it when not in use.

I was looking at a small 2.7m tender and a 2-2.5hp ob. Just something to get us to the beach and keep my son amused. As you say that size of ob is easy enough to handle, just got to think of a good place to stow it. The ob of that size have built in fuel tanks so ideally need to keep it mount upright.

I have a 2.8 Zodiac on snap davits and a Yahama Malta ( about 2.5- 3hp ) and I lie that flat in the lazarette no problem. Just make sure you close the vent on the cap first!
