Has anyone ever tried using the (allegedly) top of the range UV resistant thread? How has it worked out for you?

Mine also specd in Tenara and excellent.

I do most of my canvass work but didnt do the hood.

Would like to try Tenara, but not keen on the cost of a whole reel. I did try and get say 1/3 of a reel but it seems impossible to get smaller sizes.

Bit like sewing with nylon fishing line .Machine needs to be fiddled with .
Will out last your windows so can be slow to un pick when you need them replaced.

Comfort Afloat in Gosport repaired some of my sun canvas last year.

When I mentioned UV-resistant thread to one of the chaps there he looked sceptical - he said something along the lines of "none of them are UV-resistant these days".

Talking about which, has the quality of plastic windows gone down the pan in the last few years? Boat is 25 years old and the first sprayhood lasted almost 20 years with little or no deterioration to the windows. latest sprayhood has lasted 5 and the windows for at least the bottom 6 inches have a green/brown discolouration that makes them opaque and wont polish out. Same with the cockpit cover windows.
