TELTONIKA RUT240 onboard playing tricks?

Thank you for your explanation of your VOIP system - it makes sense with your VPN system and the land line (UK) exit.

I would like to use my prepayed italian SIM card (TIM mobile network, Italy, Voice & Data, italian mobile number with prepay plan 9EUR/month) with the Teltonika router RUT241 on the boat to make normal local phone calls. The TIM SIM put into the router connects well into the TIM network for IP data (internet TCP/IP) - but I see no way to connect a local phone / IPphone to this line?
Maybe a local (Italian) VoIP service provider but I'm struggling to see why. In Spain a lot of local trades use WhatsApp which is a kind of VoIP alternative. But the key if you want a VoIP system is a provider with a gateway to the local telephone network. Or just use your mobile phone.

I've been thinking about your question. I think the answer is that your 4G router doesn't do it. Imagine if you moved your Italian SIM card and inserted it into an unlocked mobile phone, you could connect to the internet and make calls using that phone. I am assuming that your mobile service provider allows broadband, SMS and voice on their contract/SIM. I guess you are asking how to do that on a Teltonica router and I guess that the router in question simply doesn't do that.

So I have just run this question through Gemini AI - try it and you will see that there are answers to your question.
You should get similar answers on other AIs but try this prompt on Gemini AI:-

Is there a 4g router with a phone port that will allow you to make and receive calls using the sim card/4g service provider. In the same way that you can move a 4g router's sim card, insert it into a phone and then make voice calls

Ok - there is no solution for direct calling over the IP provider ... I will use my normal mobile phone for this.

The Teltonika RUT241 does not have an analog phone (RJ11) port to connect a standard telephone for direct calls. While it supports VoLTE and has call-handling utilities, these are primarily for system triggers (like rebooting via call) or data stability.
To make and receive voice calls using your SIM card's cellular service with this router, you must use one of the following methods:

1. Use a VoIP/SIP Phone (Ethernet or Wi-Fi)
You can connect a VoIP phone (e.g., Yealink, Grandstream) to the RUT241's LAN port or Wi-Fi.
How it works: The RUT241 provides the internet connection, and the VoIP phone connects to a third-party SIP provider to handle calls.
Limitation: This uses the SIM's data rather than the SIM's cellular voice minutes, and your mobile number will likely not be the caller ID unless specifically configured with your VoIP provider.

2. Voice over LTE (VoLTE) Limitations
The RUT241 supports VoLTE to ensure data connectivity is not lost during incoming calls. While technical users can initiate calls via the command line (SSH) for automated tasks, it does not support "patching" those cellular voice calls to a handset connected via Ethernet.
