Hi all,
I have been looking at a Simrad RA 42 (b&w) radar for sale on the internet secondhand; it has a 4ft scanner and all the books, wires e.t.c
But is it a good radar?
What would you pay for it?

Whoah Moose, that's like asking how long is a bit of string.
The Radar is a good unit but how confident are you that it is OK? I mean, why was it replaced if there's nuffink wrong?
Price? I would see at at no more than £300 maybe a few quid more with a 25 year on-site repair or replace guarantee.

Triple Ace had a radar system on it when I bought it 5 years ago.

The radar sender was bent because somebody had climbed on it to steal the spotlight when it was in dry dock.

I gave the radar away for free. found out that it was straighten out and sold secondhand at a boat jumble.

I am sure there are a hundred other stories about why radars are replaced.

many secondhand units will find its way back onto boats.

Be careful.
