Personnally,

I do not have a problem with you giving your own opinion on these things. As you sell them you should have more experience of them than most. I also think 'Blatant advertising' is a bit strong as he is promoting a product whilst in business he sells different versions (Real and Plastic). I do not think you have stepped over the line, keep us informed.

I use this forum to try and change peoples opinions not to promote my products

I've just read all of your posts and all of your 'opinions' seem to be about tek-dek. Given that commercial posts are against the forum rules, (which you agreed to when you signed up) can you tone it down?

Thanks,

-Keith

PS. if you don't feel you can post w/o promoting the above just let me know and I'll help you out.

Sorry, but for me:

"...I use this forum to try and change peoples opinions not to promote my products!!

TCM - Tek-Dek professional, have you seen this product?..."

Is up there with the window companies that call you "to complete a survey".

As a salesman, I almost certainly have less real-world experience with my products that my customers who have to live with the stuff day in/ day out. If DaCostaGreene is half the salesman he appears to be, he's quite rightly going to believe in his product (or the marketing of it...) 100%.

Doesn't make for an unbiased opinion tho'...

Yup, I saw Tek Dek at SIBS maybe 4 or 5 yrs ago and considered fitting it to a boat I had at the time so I have seen and felt it close up. As I said I dont have a prob with Tek Dek as such at all or any other product you sell its just that I do have a prob with somebody posting sales hype on the forum masquerading as objective opinion
There are plenty of posters on this forum who are involved with the marine trade who either declare an interest up front or post in a less obviously commercial way

Well actually yes, my boat is wood, 48 tons of wood and ancillery stuff actually, mainly teak, 57' teak on iroko and oak frames, teak beams, teak decks, teak w/house etc. etc. So what was the point you are trying to make? By the way I doubt very much tek-dek will be fitted to the majority of new boats, I'm afraid you've got that very wrong. Some of the major motor boat builders world wide have invested heavily in sustainable teak forests, to garuantee there supplies of teak for the future. I can see the use of teak diminishing, with new designs, but not it being replaced with tek-dek. Why make something to imitate teak, why not make something new, like carbon fibre etc. answer me that!?

anger problem

you're right there, he does have an anger problem altho very minor.

It's cause by morons pretending to be cleverer than they are, or nitwits pretending to know all about boats, materials selection and their physical properties when in fact they know little if anything in that regard.

The main thing that causes it though is dealing with people much dimmer than he is but who pretend that they have greater knowledge when they evidently do not.

You're lucky that this issue simply couldn't affect you, ever, but for the rest of us, it is indeed a problem. Ah well.

Re: anger problem

I am not academically smart, nor do I care, Richard Branson and every other rich family member has never had GCSE's, O levels or whatever it was in your day. But I am street wise, I know who and what will help me get where I want to be, never underestimate the small guy, nitwit, morons who will, undoubtedly take over the running of businesses in this country

back on yer head

hm. Not strictly true that all the rich people are dim, but a nice theory and easy to believe if er dim. There's more danger in overestimating rather than underestimating nitwits and morons, really. I agree that the nitwits might well take over the running of businesses, and with any luck will feel dead pleased when made "director" which means they get all the blame...
