Does any know the width of the teak bit and the holly bit on "standard" Teak and holly floor ply as I intend to make my own from solid Iroko and maple wood.

He is in Jo'burg /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

postage will be a bit expensive!

plus the real stuff is cheaper over there

Do not help him anyway (it's always hot where he is) /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

cheers Joe (mines a Klippies)

Thanks Joe for the comment. Its not always hot it can get quite cold in the winter (thants when I wisit UK (your summer)).

Dont Like castle (give ne English beer) but I will toast you with a Klippies&coke

I plan to use 8mm thick real wood not the veneer that is normally used

You can certainly get it as a laminate to glue onto existing floor using contact adhesive. It's hard wearing and looks OK. I took my existing floor panels (ply) home and did it there. If you cut the laminate over size you can use a router with a suitable bit to trim the edge to exactly match the existing floor board.

Make sure that the board is either flat or curved very slightly concave when glueing so that the laminate will not be under compression when the board is reinstalled, otherwise the laminate may lift in places.
