Taylor 040 cooker

Is it possibly a faulty thermocouple? This eBay shop has a lot of spares for the 041 (I hadn't heard of an 040).

Access is difficult. I don’t know if the sensor is electric or pure thermal. I have played the gas lighter directly on the end of capillary-like tube to no avail. Cooker out tomorrow for further dismantling.

In case others have the same problem, I present my findings.

I have removed the lot from the cooker and dismantled the valve. It is by Harper Wyman who are still trading (in the US).

The capillary is connected to bellows in the valve and opens the mains inlet via a lever. All appears well there.

Heating the capillary end with a serious flame, does cause the valve to open. My temptation now is to increase the pilot flame size. I have already pricked it resulting in a small flame size increase.

Serious investigation now. Pilot light refuses to light at all. Stripped down control valve (with huge trepidation - well justified!). Rather complicated!
However, the main body does not control the pilot so tomorrow start again. There were a few unexpected
flames.
