Hi all

I’m on the scrounge!

Does anyone have the injector removal tool for 61a’s they could lend me?

Volvopaul kindly said he would lend me his but he uses it all the time so could be a while understandably.

Happy to pay a rental charge and postage etc.... Got to be cheaper than buying from volvo to use once!

Thanks very much in advance

Hi Matthew.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve tried to figure out what trucks would use the same removal tool but I’m struggling. There’s a local firm I could ask but need an idea what I’m asking for really.

If you can measure up the tool, I might be able to get something knocked up.

If either of you get the chance, I could do with the ID and OD measurements of the c shaped part.

Can’t be too hard to replicate if I can’t borrow one.

I know this may sound harsh but you just CANNOT ask a tradesman to borrow his tools to work on your own boat, it's just not the done thing! Just saying :encouragement:

Who says! Anyone is welcome to say no and I won’t be offended.

This forum is about helping one another isn’t it?

Happy to make my own but need one for the measurements. Rest assured, if I make something decent, anyone is welcome to borrow it.

When I was doing the old campers, I had a bit of a deposit, send it by post, return it then a partial refund going on. Would be a good idea for boat related tools, especially things like this as they're quite dear for potentially a 1 time use!

I bought this as happen to have 2 huge Volvo lumps and know a lot of other huge Volvo lump owners lol

Certain Volvo dealers rent out tools for. 10% charge of the tools retail value which can be expensive.

I’ve been searching eBay and google for ages. A rare item I fear as it’s particular to a handful of engines. I guess that’s why Volvo can charge so much for a them. Even expensive from the states!

Not as expensive as disturbing the sleeve they sit in though
So your dealer buys the tool which is part of his agreement with Volvo to have and then lends it to the customer who uses when the dealer does not require it sounds simple but it rarely works that way .
The only way you can do it as a dealer is if it’s a tool that is rarely used and only if you know you won’t require it and the customer can’t break it or you keep tools simply as a service for customers.
You come along and say can I borrow your injector removal tool so that I can take them to some one else to service ? Because I do all my own work and only buy the parts that I can’t easily get cheaper elsewhere
MR B is correct
Paul I think you will find that Volvo don’t discount their tools but sell at nett prices.

My local dealer doesn’t have one. I’m not trying to upset the proffesionals on this site and appreciate tools are their livelihood. Just thought I would ask incase anyone has one gathering dust in their tool box

Just looked up the part number and it’s £70 that’s not a lot more than an hours labour from one of the south coast main dealers, at that price I wouldn’t even hesitate in buying one, have spent far more on tools than that before
