Tamd41b torque maximum?

I assume that cruising with the engines at the revs. where it develops maximum torque gives good economy. At what revs. does this peak?
I know that 3800 is the maximum revs. for power but not sure how far I can push the engines and get a good speed. They are 25 years old and done 2000 hours.
What are the options especially as I feel the engines need sympathetic treatment?
Would the fuel metering pump benefit from an overhaul at these hours?

Your Broom 33 is well suited to these engines, I'd run them at sea very happily anywhere between 3000 and 3400 rpm that's the sweet spot , anything below that the turbo is not giving much boost , therefore the black smoke appears. The pumps should be fine, it's more injectors that fail, if you remember I did say have then refurbished when I did your survey .

I'm glad you said that Paul as I generally run my Princess 30ds at 3300-3400 on sea trips with twin TMD41's, still costs me a fortune though but drops off the plane any lower.

The pumps should be fine, it's more injectors that fail, if you remember I did say have then refurbished when I did your survey .

Thanks Paul, I took your advice and refurbished the injectors a year ago. The engines have always worked perfectly.
Thanks for the information regarding revs. and pumps, I tend to run them in the area you said as it seems comfortable.
