TAMD 73 EDC oil drain point

On the tamd 73 engine series is there a oil drain point or is it through the dip stick process?

Usually through the dipstick as access to the bottom of the engine is usually "eventful" shall we say. Machine Mart and places sell a useful sucker upper tool thinggy. Just make sure the engine has warmed.

12V electric pump from anywhere and oil as hot as you can get it.
Put old oil directly into you drum and no faffing getting filthy oil back out of vacuum pump into into another container and all the mess that goes with it.
Will take about 10-15 mins each according to "Murv" and his 2 x 306s on Turbo 36.
Took about 5-10 mins to empty sump on a TAMD41B.
Pumps normally supplied with two pipes one slim enough to go down dipstick tube.

I think Volvo Paul said in a post recently that Volvo Penta engines don’t need you to insert a hose via the dipstick, you just need to seal around the top of the dipstick and then pump out the oil.

the wider of two supplied plastic pipes will fit over outside of dipstick pipe.
Thinner pipe then used as exit pipe into your oil drum, did restrict the flow and sump would empty quicker with wider pipe.
Essential that oil is piping hot.

depends on the engine - they are not all the same

I would go with a purpose oil pump. Mine has a metal cam style mechanism inside. Can’t be used for water though as they rust and seize (ask me how I know that )

Not expensive at all.

Would a rub impeller standup to hot oil? Wouldn’t it go soft and not work very well?

Rubber impeller works fine .
