Lols...!

Great info.

Cant seem to find an amazing connection... although i was thinking i should fly into Stavanger, and be picked up by my amazing 5.7l v8 47knt 500nm capable bat-boat and be home in 20 minutes, no? Even if it is dark...!

#NightVision!!!

Would not consider night vision .... SVG airport to Mekjarvik or Dusavik Marina = £50 ... then straight out the fjord, East of Kvitsøy and more or less NW from there ... done that several times (smallest boat... a 11ft Zodiac with a 20 Hp outboard, but daylight and flat sea)... nice journey when weather is nice.... cruel when not ...

Challenge is refueling where SC is ... unless crew is willing to carry cans from garage...

When you remove the rear refueling setup and convert the aft deck into a Helicopter pad will you also be converting the fuel tanks to carry Jet-A? How much would you carry? I''m guessing it will have to be an awful lot given the remote places you intend to use it. What type of Helicopter will you be employing?? Exciting times indeed.

The plan is to clear the deck... play with the layout for the next 18 months.. then commit afterwards.

The helideck is crazy regulated... requiring model by model certification and ongoing readiness training...

But... i was thinking one of these...

That isn't going to be any good for rescue work or distance. Maybe look at an Airbus H135 (used to be Eurocopter EC135) Compact enough for a yacht, good payload, 300 miles+ range on 185 gallon. http://www.airbushelicopters.com/website/en/ref/H135_30.html :encouragement:

I had a word with Haslar marina and it may well be possible to fit you in there subject to your final dimensions and the weather. In strong winds weight becomes a factor.

If you are in the UK and fancy something to eat we are on the boat in the Hamble until Saturday AM then Gosport Sat / Sun. Send me a private message via the forum. Both locations are easy enough to reach from London, about an hour and a half by car.

I do have spare custard on board which you are more than welcome to take away with you :)

Henry :)

Just bumping this in case you missed it with the page turn.

Reminds me of a little story -- in 2005 I hurriedly bought a Sunssseker P35 to stick on our mooring in the SOF .
Hurriedly from Factory visit to berth ( a used one -p-exd in ) was 3 weeks in August .
The del to SoF was part of the deal .
"I,ll but that boat now -today only if you guarantee del on this date "
"deal was the answer"
Thing is we had pre booked our Famiky hol to the Blakenky Hotel in Norfolk .Could not get out of this .
Sunsseker were as expected with customer relations fantastic --don,t worry Mr "Punter " we will arrange everything -can do attitude --was 2005 .
One Afternoon ,think Friday ( so w/e guests arriving @ reception ) I returned from the beach with two toddlers .
Arms laden down with beach paraphernalia etc -to a busy reception area .
Waited in the que ,when it was my turn. ( more folks arriving behind me )
I asked for my room key .
The lady said there's a telegram Mr "punter "
Hands and arms laiden down now kids playing up -- I asked her to read it out

She opened it and in full voice to sound over the melee blurted out ----
Message from Sunseeker International
"Your Yacht has arrived in Monaco -WHICH -one of your helicopter do you want us to put on it "

Silence --- I could have died .

Later that pm at dinner -the sort of hotel that does kiddie high teas -then adults only dinner @8pm
Wife and I walk in to the dining room --silence -they all stare at us for a moment -- the maitre d seats us in the special window table ,pulls my wife chair etc .

Word must has got around ,staff and guests .
That Christmas ,hotel sent a card --

Nice practical joke by the SS sales team .:encouragement:

I am following this thread with avid interest, although sometimes it does get a bit baffling.

Capital_R, I saw this link in a newsletter today re Damen's new First Line Assistance vessel - it appears to be a similar concept to the refit project that you are undertaking?
http://www.damen.com/en/news/2017/0...ne_assistance_vessel_the_damen_responder_5413

They say that it is based on their standard 54 metre Multi-purpose Vessel.

And there is a mention on their Facebook page as well -

See you're getting the drawings from Aukra Yard pretty soon ... down to very close details such as shaft seal and trawl cutter ....

In case you're interested here's a photograph of her more or less how she was before her last re-build in the 80's .. as Nes Trader ...

Ha! That's an awesome life-moment. Thank God they picked it right and it wasn't a surprise wedding anniversary treat for Mrs. Punter!

:-)

Thanks Alf,

I've got that one...! :-)

What drawings from which yard?

I didn't realise until now that helicopters were the tree hugger choice! Actually easier on the juice than a 30 footer boat.

Putting aside the super-tender which is the most efficient aquatic transportation ever manufactured, powered by supercoliders etc, ...

The EC135 does seem to be more efficient than the dinghy.

FMD.!

Hi BaJanSailor,

Nice to meet you! Yes.. that does look awesome.

If I'd not needed the oil tanker, and was after a conversion... i may have leaned towards this..

https://m.apolloduck.com/feature.phtml?id=407228

But sea keeping was very high on the list and these blue ones looked a little narrow... although a benefit of that might be the stated 19.5 knots.. which seems well above hull speed...

But I really do believe we have a lovley ship on our hands at present.

I am trying to fit you in Henry; sorry for the slow reply... lots on... I'm up in Peterborough at the moment which happens to be a banking/coding center for FX software if you can believe it :-)

Would love to come visit. I'll even show you the ownership documents in person, in lieu of this lost box of custard... however; I'm feeling that we're pretty much all aboard these days as a group ;-) I've not yet worked out how to have my weekends off... so I wasnt free over Saturday/Sunday; but your invitation was very kind and I'll find a way to take you up on it... at least before the Beer and BBQ on the old Guard Aleta!

No problem.

Just in case you were dragging your heels over the weekend a long way from home !

I am not sure if this thread is real or not, but if CapitalR is looking for a deepsea ex-P&O skipper, who has built drilling vessels in Korea, I know of one driving a taxi in Aukland and flying drones in his semi-retirement. Bizarre does happen.

Whoa!

When did that happen? Did I miss it?

I have believed everything in this thread up to now. But a package going missing in the UK's postal system? Unbelievable!!

:p

I cannot vouch that it was the UKs postal service that got it wrong...

Just that it was ordered and paid for, yet not delivered.
