This could be pretty interesting! Looks like we southerners are going to get the wind first, and be able to pull back at least the longitude lost to the northern crowd, my biggest fear is not being able to get north again without having to punch through a light patch. Looks like there might be a good bridge in a few days, but anything could happen before then!

I've gone South in both races. That's why in the VOR I'm behind boats that have not even started yet. However I see all of the real boats in the actual race have all copied my plan.

How did they find out!!! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I thought I would take the gamble as well. You can't win if you are following someone else. Now doing just under 23 knots.

Agree, making the move North will be the decider for those who went South. Looking good in about 3 days.

Good Luck to all

The line is starting to incline, with the southern boats making more easterly progress.
It's squeaky bum time!

I think I overcooked my goose. Or is that overgoosed my cook? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I would prefer to be a bit further North and at the front of the 'wave'. Mind you, if you zoom out until you see the finish, it is still a very long way to go.

The wind is looking like it might go a bit light in the north by tomorrow evening and move east. The leaders up here may have some problems if it overtakes them. I am trying to head E to stay with the wind and hopefully swing around with the shifting winds into a commanding lead. OK maybe dreaming slightly.

It is becoming a very interesting tactical race, Pity I'm going on holiday for a few days on Wed. Sometimes I look and North is better other times South.

I'm loving it.

I will be leaving a very competant skipper in charge until my return /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well this is my first time and i decided to start off by going south. This morning i was 500th and doing 22kn. A half an hour ago i turned north and my speed is 24.3 and my possition 481 so not bad, i'm catching you guys up. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

well its my first real race too and i started nearly 4 hours behind (finishing off my Ym exam).... I stayed north and now in 76th... which is more than can be said for my Ym exam! And facing some light airs over the next couple of days, I'm guessing, which was my downfall on friday night, so suggest you don't go where I'm going!

very interesting trying to decide how to play the light bit south of mauritius

Hey Carol, just to add a bit of fun I’m trying to conjure up an image of my crew.

I have Ed Harris as cabin boy /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif (he wont see the light of day) /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif I need a bit of muscle for pulling ropes so thought Austin Healy would fit in well, he could always do a bit of Rumba on deck if we hit the doldrums.

Third crew member has me in a quandary, I’m himming and hamming between Gordon Ramsey for cooking and swearing at the opposition or Bill Bailey for music and wit.

Any views? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hmmm.

I was hoping you two lovely ladies would be in my crew but I can see from your personal preferences that I wouldn't fit the bill as your ideal skipper. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I'll have to look elsewhere.
