lost a few teeth on the gears ..
Still not 100% why it decided to give up all of sudden ..![]()
Loss of oil or poor quality oil or emulsified oil, poor servicing , the boat was in the med prior to you buying it .
I have an offer in on a 2001 T40 at the moment; not heard of this before despite having had a T34 before my F43 which had KAD300's/DPGs.
Is this a common defect/fault? Anyone heard of this on other DPGs of that age other than those above?
Rotten luck though for the OP but at least once both drives are overhauled you should get many years trouble free, hopefully!

>>maybe it engaged (late) and revs was slightly higher then thats what sheared the teeth?if that makes sense
Take a look at the gears in those photos.
The gear on one side is still oily.
The top gear is dry and rusty.
If the oil level was too low, that would explain a lot.
Also that oil looks to be a bit green to be the standard Volvo gear oil - looks like something else. What was on the service invoice?
yeah i thinks its all gone bit rusty as was salt water all over where casing split and ive left it outside to the elements..
will check invoice when get home :encouragement:
