In several articles about standing rigging I read that T-terminals belong to the least reliable type of connection between a stay and the mast. The problem seems to be in the anchor plate in which the T-terminal is hooked. This anchor plate can be fractured quit easily and is rather small.
Does anybody have had such problem?
This winter I will replace the 20 year old standing rigging of my boat and I am thinking of changing it to the old fashion way (i.e. a s.s. bolt through the mast and strong s.s. Backing plates).
On the another hand I see that all mast from serial builders (for example Selden) are being delivered with T-Terminals. So how bad is bad?

Any comment?
