Hi - my SIL's Gladiateur has reached the good age of 34 years, but still with original ships electrics. The switchboard is a 12 way arrangement with circuit breakers, and the wiring is automotive stuff. Some of the breakers are sticky and wont release properly, some of the copper wiring is becoming blackened through corrosion and more and more reliability issues are emerging. So I am contemplating helping her with a re-wire project this winter.
It will be on a budget, but I am thinking of all new wiring, new switchboard, and ideally some form of battery monitoring (been reading the parallel thread on this). The main heavy current cables on the battery side seems OK
Question regarding the new switchboard - I have been looking on the usual supplier websites, seems 2 x 6 way pre-made switch panels could be the more economic way to go, using conventional switch with a fuse (rather than circuit breakers) or is this a false economy? Any recommendations re switch panels?
I know I could make my own, but would rather buy ready made due to time constraints.
