Swiftech m168 help please!

I wonder if some of the electrical types out there might be able to help. I have a Swiftech m168 fixed VHF which now produces no sound - not even interference. Nothing I do with the squelch or volume controls makes any difference. Plugging the external speaker into the socket at the back yields no sound either. I'm pretty certain the speaker itself is OK because I can hear the faint "thud" when I switch on. Also, the green "Rx" LED is permanently on. The set seems to transmit perfectly well though!

Any ideas anyone?

Avocet, try PHIAD Marine, Tel 0141445 3673. They have taken over the Swiftech range and I believe can still supply spares and service - certainly for the M198, the HH portable - when I rang them they were quite helpful, they also have a website
