Swift Trawler 54

One of these arrived in our marina in the last week or so and is berthed not far from me. I always liked the look of the smaller Swifts but I think this one is ugly. It's all white, which doesn't help. If it was a different colour it might not look so boxy.

Similar to the Cranchi T53 which arrived in 2013, and I never really liked.

The hint is in the name, Trawler - so designed to be functional not flash.

But also the angle of viewing affects things - bum to the shore view is rarely elegant for any motor yacht.

A J Class sailing yacht is prettier stern to, but not very practical or berth space efficient.

I think it was a big swift trawler I was anchored next to recently - with the slab sides and 4(?) levels of living space it was like being anchored next to a council tower block.

Undoubtedly a fabulously luxurious place to spend your holiday I’m quite sure - and when you’re inside your not looking out…

As the owner of a 43' Power Cat I agree. Nonetheless the Swift 34's and 44's are definitely more trawler like than this, especially with a non white hull.

Beneteau/Jeanneau have a range of boats for every taste. Maximum space in a given hull size is an important criteria for some…others like sleek.
You can pay more and get an Absolute Navetta 52 with similar proportions but full of Italian flair…it depends on your budget.
Personally, I could happily live on the big Swifty…although I would be happier on the Navetta.
But neither boat is on my …if I won the Euromillions rollover…list

If that’s the model I looked around at the Southampton show in 2025, I found it pretty impressive - although with some details that I didn’t quite like.

I think the hard top argument is something every boat owner goes through….you often see people building them…. I think a big fat boat like that Swiftly won’t be adversely affected by a heavy hard top

I like the Swift Trawlers for what they are as a fairly easy to live with capable 'trawler style' motor yacht but I do find the looks work well on the smaller models 34/35 but styling does start to look more like a Lego Yacht as the ST's get bigger.... in my opinion..

Sadly slab sided mobo extend beyond the quoted Trawler which to be fair once they have 2 engines and 3 cabins look quite practical . I see Sealine 43 and the same view when compared to say an early 2000 Princess. The Trawler do seem to offer a lot of boat for money and no one can say Traders are attractive. Be interested in thoughts on what would be an attractive 40-45 mobo though. Do any have 3 sleeping cabins apart from the newer Trawlers?

Although a boat’s attractiveness is important…it’s not the most important. Seaworthiness and safety…reliability and affordability…accommodation and usability….performance, build quality etc etc all might rate higher depending on the individual

Lovely looking boats with flybridges, are always ruined in their style by silly pointless hard tops. Their function is merely to keep the sun off people's delicate heads, well in the words of Blackadder, "perhaps some sort of hat is in order".

A hat alone wouldn't be much good to you in the Med. A hardtop provides excellent shade, and a perfect platform for solar, antennas, etc etc.

I kinda agree. You can always have a bimini cover which you can take down. Personally speaking, I like the fact my rear deck has a roof so I can have an outdoor experience with a roof and if I want the full outdoors I can go onto the flybridge. Put a hard top on it and for my taste I feel a little claustrophobic with zero fully 'outdoors' areas. But I can see the appeal of having one though.
