Hi Everyone,

I have received some very good advice on this forum, so here is my latest question, with hopes of a good response.

We are in the process of fitting gates in our lifelines and find on shopping around there is quite a big difference in the prices of terminals.

Does anyone know who supplies the best and the cheapest swage and swageless terminals. Has anyone come across Blue Wave - are they any good? I have been informed they are not suitable for marine purposes, but cannot find their web site nor a supplier.

Many thanks for any info.

Hi,

If you come across any good deals, let me know. I will return the compliment. Don't bother going to Baseline. The chap their was hopeless. However, they did do a nice quite cheap line in swageless, but only for 4mm wire. Ours unfortunately is 6mm.

Regards,
Mica

I have these terminals fitted on my thirty foot cat, i have had two terminals fail at the threads, it looks like crevice corrosion to me, as the metal was red halfway through the fitting, also they "bleed" like hell, bright orange stains all over the fittings, mainly out of the threads so you can't do much about it. the rig is just seven years old and i would say looking at the fittings they have been waiting to fail for some time, I'm going to norseman/sta loks with bronze turnbuckles..... i can do without the rig coming down............keith

Hi jfkal,

Had a look at the web site mentioned, but it is mostly in French and does not give prices as far as I can see.

Don't know what size wire you have, but we have found a very competitive quote from Russel at ProBoat, Burnham on Crouch. Tel: 01621 785455. He doesn't have a web site, but you can order by mail if you tell him what you want.

Example cost : Pecican Hook for 6mm wire with M8 thread = £7.05 plus VAT. (This is the cheapest we have come across. Swaged fork for 6mm wire £4.19 and swageless £17.06 plus VAT of course.

Might be worth you giving him a ring.
Regards,
Mica

Thanks Mica,

but since I am in Singapore I'd rather order through the web where I can see the stuff. The French site has an English button and if you compile your order and fax it over they give you a quote in EURO-DOLLARS :))
