Can anyone help please.
Have dismantled ,MIKUNI carb on my 7.5 suzukl outboard and have mislaid the jet needle that operates the float supply.
Despite all the sites that advertise spares it seems that they only stock spares for motorbikes and jet skis!
Can anyone provide this vital piece of equipment or if not , a complete used carb.
Engine details are

Try ssi marine outboards. I've always found them really good on prices and knowledge with genuine parts and sell really good aftermarket parts.

Hi Guys,
Many thanks for comments.
Tried SSI but when they realised age of engine (1978) they couldn't help

Messaged Suzuki Marine and they advised me to contact local suzuki agent.
Again local agent said they would check but were skeptical due to age.

The engine has been very well cared for and is in excellent condition but it seems a shame to discard it for one very small part, the float needle.

I'm sure there must be some 7.5 engines out there that are scrap due to mechanical failure but have perfectly usable parts like this needle.
Please form an orderly que!

Have you thought of making one? Or adapting one from a similar sized motor/carb? The differences between them from carb to carb are quite negligible, although critical of course.
At this time of year, and with most of my winter jobs out of the way, I'd welcome the challenge!

Yes I did wonder.
I think the only critical elements are the length of needle and angle of point?.
Will try it and let you know how I get on.
Appreciate the thought, thanks.

Many thanks for info will try and identify my carb and contact them.
That's why these forums are so valuable and appreciated!

Thanks to information rec from this website I have successfully tracked down and purchased the float needle valve that I was missing
Thanks guys!!
Can I ask for more help please.i have cleaned and reassembled the carb and refitted but cannot get engine to start.
Fuel is getting in to carb ok but for some reason is not making it to the main jet.
If I use easy start the motor starts and runs immediately until gone but then stops.
Have been told that maybe the engine is not creating the vacuum to pull the fuel through and apparently there could be a "valve" in the inlet manifold that is not operating correctly
Have no idea where to look for this as don't have manual
Has anyone had this problem or can supply picture of the offending.
As always, really appreciate the knowledge and help that is out there

Three are read valves between the inlet manifold and the crankcase but these are rarely any trouble. You can see them in the parts diagram on the Browns Point website.

Are you sure that the fuel level in the float chamber is correct ? Float installed correctly?
Main and pilot jets clean ? O ring in position ?

.

Have you checked for a spark? After a while apart it's easy to get carried away and forget to attach a kill cord when back together, or start in gear protection issue.
What else was taken apart?
If the float bowl has fuel in to correct level main jet will be sat in the middle of it, at starting throttle position main jet shouldn't have much to do with it, pilot jet will be the main player.

If it runs on easy start there is a spark ..... but it may not be a good enough one. It should be able to jump about 3/8" if tested with a variable gap spark tester.

Might be worth trying a squirt of 2 stroke fuel rather than Easy Start. If it runs briefly on that then spark is probably OK but this should not be relied upon in place of a spark tester
