Morning all....
Took the boat out on Saturday from the marina to join a flotilla up the Pembroke river to Pembroke castle (very nice as well!). No problems going down Milford Haven and then a slow run up the river to the castle.
Pootled about in the castle pond with all the other boats for a while , then started the return leg back to Neyland. No issues at slow speed, but when I opened her up to get up on the plane, the temperature warning came on and started to alrarm, then she wouldn't rev (Doe's it go into a "Limp" mode or "Safe" mode?)....I checked the water from the engine which felt fine, no hint of over heating, and seemed a decent stream as well.
The engine eventually cut out, but it re-started at the first turn of the starter motor, with no more alarm or warning light. I then took her steady until I reached Milford Haven, where she went as sweet as a nut again without an issue..
I'm guessing (Hoping) it was just a case of me sucking in a bit of debris...there was a lot about...that blocked the water inlet a little, so it was ok on low revs, but not enough flow on high revs?...then when the engine stopped, the obstruction "fell away" as it were?...It had a good flush through on the pontoon with fresh water afterwards with nothing to be seen as regards debris or water flow..
The engine is new to me with only 40hrs on the clock btw...
Any ideas or experiences guys?
TIA.....
